CROSS STREETS

Other Sites

There are many web sites on the net that include photographs of various road signs and street intersections. As far as we can tell, none are dedicated solely to images of street intersections. Highway signs and other signs seen along the road are more common than intersection signs.

Here are some links to other sites that include images of street intersection signs and other road signs. If you check out these sites, you will see some duplication. The really popular signs seem to proliferate, and get picked up over and over.

Oddball New York is a web site excerpting images from a book, ODDBALL NY: FROM AVENUE A TO Z by Lindley Farley. A few of the images are similar in nature to this site, being actual street intersections with odd names. One of the images here is a different view of the "Seaman & Cumming" intersection discussed on our "Fakes" page.

A collection of street intersection and other road signs can be found at Road Trip America, along with other information related to travelling across the United States. Road signs are in the "Funny Streets and Places" and "Highway Howlers" categories. Signs for stores, etc. are also included.

A site called Strange Signs has an interesting collection of road signs, business signs, license plates, etc.

When researching the nation's most dangerous street intersections a few years ago, State Farm collected some funny street intersections and published a report with their five funniest intersection names. No pictures. There are better out there, some on this site, we hope.

On this site, James D. Teresco collects hundreds (thousands?) of highway sign photographs he has taken over the years. This site has more highway signs than you probably want to think about. Most signs themselves are somewhat mundane (of course) but the extent of the collection is impressive.

The This is Broken site includes a list of many silly and confusing signs. Also includes comments by numerous viewers. The point of this site is to describe all sorts of "broken" things - from Advertising to Web technology. The comments by various people can be hilarious. The link takes you directly to the page that has signs, some of which are road signs. Be sure to wander around the site for awhile.

Here is a website called FunnySign.com, that contains a collection of various signs - mostly road signs and business establishment signs. A number of these are street and information signs, but most appear to be various signs found along the road.

The site Wicked Moon includes a large collection of various road signs; many are hilarious. Includes a few street intersection signs as well. The site is set up to let you send e-cards to friends, and includes many images in various areas. This link goes directly to the page with the road signs, but there are hundreds of other images worth seeing.

All your base are belong to us is a pop culture intersection of general interest to early video gamers.

The Naval Safety Center has collected a number of confusing street signs into a Signs of the Times PowerPoint presentation. They are apparently collecting more pictures for additional presentations, and provide an email contact if you have a picture of a confusing sign (or juxtaposition of signs). All this seems to relate to their mandate to provide safety education, because confusing signs can be dangerous.
